The task
A family that does a big shop every week or two sees only “84 € at REWE” in its banking app. I wanted to see what is inside that number: what went on cheese, what got pricier and what was bought off the list. So I made an app that reads a photo of a receipt and helps you spend less on food before you pay, not after.
Role
Idea, design, development, backend, App Store release
What I did
- Design and development for iPhone: a photo of a receipt turns into items sorted by category, with what was on your list and what was not, and the bottle deposit kept apart from spending.
- A check on every receipt: a vision model reads it, then the app makes sure the items add up to the total and the date fits. If something is still off, it marks the receipt for review instead of guessing.
- A shopping list that builds itself from what you buy regularly, with the usual price next to each item, so a higher price tag is visible right at the shelf.
- History: personal inflation over six months, spending on and off the list, savings on deals taken from the receipt itself. Widgets, Control Center, Siri, Face ID lock.
- A backend on Cloudflare for recognition and subscriptions, reading on the device with Apple Intelligence, the interface in English, German and Ukrainian, the landing page and everything for the App Store release.
